Lawrence Dombrowski, Jr., P.E.

 

Mr. Dombrowski is a civil/structural engineer and the founder of Dombrowski Forensic Engineers. He heads up the Forensic and Litigation Support of the firm. 

During his 30 years in the construction industry, Mr. Dombrowski has,

• Mr. Dombrowski is a licensed Professional Engineer with more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry. 
  
• He has designed and inspected buildings, utility structures, specialty structures, and site infrastructure improvements as well as building foundations, structural framing, and exterior fenestrations for low and mid-rise commercial office buildings, warehouses, churches, schools, amusement park rides, and single-family and multi-family residences. 
  
• Mr. Dombrowski has extensive forensic experience. He has investigated and evaluated shoring failures, building structural failures, shallow and deep foundation failures, determined the cause of distressed and damaged building components, assessed compliance of existing building construction to contract documents and building code requirements, assessed walking surfaces and stairs, and evaluated roadway design and maintenance issues
  
• Mr. Dombrowski has provided expert testimony on numerous matters by affidavit, deposition, and trial.  Premise liability, product liability, construction safety, construction accidents, scaffolding failure, building collapse, construction defects, water intrusion, site infrastructure design/defects, and roadway/traffic accidents are some of the matters that he has testified as an expert witness.  
  
• Mr. Dombrowski is a certified structural engineer, threshold inspector, and arbitrator neutral. He has also received training and certification as a structural masonry inspector and as a welding inspector. 
  
• As a panel member of the American Arbitration Association, he has served as a neutral during fast-track and 3-member panel arbitration proceedings for construction disputes.
  
• He has provided technical consultations on time sensitive cases to building owners, management associations, insurance companies, attorneys, engineers, contractors and government agencies.
  
• Mr. Dombrowski is a FEMA Structure Specialist.  He has served in chaotic environments created after major disasters, such as hurricane Katrina, evaluating and identifying safe and unsafe structures for the execution of rescues.
  
• Mr. Dombrowski is involved in voluntary work as a member of the Florida Task Force 1 Urban Search & Rescue team. 

 

 

 

Catia R. Dombrowski

 

Mrs. Dombrowski is the marketing coordinator and administrative manager of Dombrowski Forensic Engineers. She has been instrumental in the development of the firm, developing strategies and operation systems that allow the firm to be active throughout Florida.  

 

• Mrs. Dombrowski has successfully planned and coordinated complex assignments. Recently she successfully organized a full scale reconstruction of a major construction accident site to facilitate contextual review of evidence.
• As legal assistant, she employed her training to effectively perform tasks that involved innumerous researches, customer support, translation/liaison, drafting, filing and scheduling. 
• While living in South America, Mrs. Dombrowski was part of a social project that involved the State government and Carioca University, where she worked as an adjunct instructor for Hotel Management and Administration.
• Mrs. Dombrowski has performed above average in both academic and professional spheres. She received honors in both of her Bachelors of Science degrees, Marketing and Management, as well as in her Legal Assistant program.
• Mrs. Dombrowski is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish and has training and experience working in Latin America. 

Mrs. Dombrowski is involved in community service programs assisting people with disabilities.
